MARY KATHERINE
Mary Katherine Prince, a native Washingtonian, is an interior designer, property manager, event planner and philanthropist. She was raised and educated in the District of Columbia and has built her life and career in the nation’s capital.
Mary Katherine attended the Madeira School and then graduated from Drew University with a bachelor’s degree in English and Business Management. After college, Mary Katherine pursued her love of interior design with an opportunity at the Kellogg Collection, a home furnishing and interior design consultancy in DC. She next worked as the marketing manager for Washington Design Center, a collection of luxury home furnishing showrooms in DC, and then moved into a role as a designer at Barry Dixon, an interior design firm based in Fauquier County, VA.
A new stage of Mary Katherine’s career began when she began laying the foundation to open her own design business while also managing the grand reopening of the Washington Design Center in its new location.
Mary Katherine’s design consultancy, MK Stinson Design, draws inspiration from fresh-traditional design. Mary Katherine built her business around her ability to walk into someone’s home and immediately offer a fresh new design perspective.
Today, Mary Katherine focuses her time on property management and working as an event producer. She also works with and supports several nonprofits and charities including City Kids, a DC-based nonprofit providing multicultural educational opportunities to DC children; Room to Rebloom, a nonprofit dedicated to creating healing home environments for survivors of domestic violence; and The Preservation Society of Newport County. Mary Katherine has also been active in volunteering and fundraising for The Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens in D.C.
Along with her husband Octavius, Mary Katherine is a member of the Spouting Rock Beach Association, The Clambake Club, and the Chicago Racquet Club.
Mary Katherine and Octavius enjoy tennis, golf, and traveling and, in addition to Washington, DC, they love spending time in Marshall, VA, and Newport, RI.
